Our historic house has been part of Heidelberg’s Old Town since 1707 – and over the centuries, generations of students have lived, celebrated, laughed and perhaps even studied here.
With Heidelberg University nearby, the Neckar and Old Bridge just outside the door, the romantic castle above the city and traditional student pubs all around, this has always been a special place to experience Heidelberg.
Today, the historic house is home to Hotel zur Alten Brücke and Wirtshaus zum Nepomuk.
We have preserved the spirit of Heidelberg’s student tradition throughout the hotel. Bookshelves, writing desks and individual details give each of our rooms its own character – a little nod to the city’s famous university heritage.
"Klausur" single room
Our two single rooms are located on the first and second floor and offer a beautiful view of the bridge gate of the famous Old Bridge. Both rooms have a small sitting area, whose couch allows an additional sleeping place. The small shower room with Italian glass mosaic completes the stay in these cozy rooms.
"Satis bene" double rooms
"Statis Bene" means "must suffice", but in no case does it mean renunciation....
Our two rooms No.1 & No.6 of this category go with the windows to our historic half-timbered gallery - a typical feature of old trading houses from the early 18th century ... From here you reached the offices and private rooms of our trading house from 1707 !
As in all other rooms, we have purchased powerful air purifiers, which also provide a small breeze

"Prädikat" double rooms
Our individual double rooms all differ in their floor plan. No two are alike.
But they all have one thing in common - the reference to the student life of the university city!
The "book walls", the cozy earmold chairs, the desks .... So everyone would have liked to study :-)

"Summa Cum Laude" deluxe double rooms

- Student the highest examination award - perfectly describes our two large attic rooms and the two maisonette suites with small living / bedroom additionally on the respective upper floor ! The rooms of this category are air-conditioned and offer wonderful views of the city, the river and partly of the famous Heidelberg Castle. Ideal also for staying with the family.

"Exkursion" double room with balcony
"Excursion" in this case is not a scientific excursion, but only a small walk of less than 100 meters to our branch in house no. 15.
Here we were able to create two cozy rooms with great shower rooms and small balconies by converting a small new apartment. Not only with our smoking guests this fresh air variation is very well received .....

Also in our dependance - in a modern residential building on the Neckar - is our chic apartment with fully equipped kitchenette, spacious living-dining area, separate bedroom and small shower room.
Not to forget the small loggia overlooking the river, the "bastion" with its old chestnuts and the Old Bridge. Ideal for a longer stay in our beautiful city!
